Nippon Ichi Software has announced Shin Hayarigami 3 as the latest entry from the horror visual novel series, and it will release in July for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine (via Ryokutya2089) provides additional details.
Shin Hayarigami started as a spinoff that inherits the setting and mood of the Hayarigami – Keishichou Kaii Jiken File horror adventure games that first released for PlayStation 2 in 2004. The horror series concept was to make something that could scare anyone, focusing on fear and a new set of characters. It’s also worth noting that Shin Hayarigami is still one of the few CERO Z-rated games (ages 18 and up) by NIS.
Female police officer Saki Hojo, the protagonist of the previous Shin Hayarigami games, will return as the protagonist for 3. Her age is 27, which is the same as before, so the third installment appears to take place shortly after the previous two games. Scenarios include titles such as “Crevice Woman,” “The Demon Doll,” and “Ryomen Sukuna.” Several game systems will also return from previous games, including the Self Question, Deduction Logic, Courage Points, and Liar’s Note systems.
Shin Hayarigami 3 launches for Switch and PS4 in Japan on July 29, 2021. It will go for 7,678 yen (~$70.49) retail.
