Shady Part of Me, emotional puzzle adventure, launches for Switch

Shady Part of Me launch trailer Nintendo Switch Douze-Dixièmes Focus Home Interactive available now

Shady Part of Me was yet another game showcased at The Game Awards 2020 last night, if you remember anything about the night beyond Sephiroth and awesome Capcom announcements. It is an “emotional puzzle adventure” from French developer Douze-Dixièmes and publisher Focus Home Interactive, and it has a launch trailer to share, as the game is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Through Dec. 24, it has a launch discount of 10%, making it $13.49 instead of $14.99.

Shady Part of Me combines 3D and 2D gameplay where you can alternate between playing as a girl and her shadow, who must cooperate to make progress in a world of “surreal, watercolor-like dreamscapes.” To give the game some extra flavor, it features the voice of Hannah Murray, who played Gilly in Game of Thrones.

Obviously, the art is the star of the show in the Shady Part of Me launch trailer. Douze-Dixièmes clearly landed upon an inspired and cohesive art style, and it looks like the gameplay has creativity to match, with the shadow on the walls reminding me of 2D Link in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. In fact, while watching the trailer, I actually said, “Wow, that looks good,” out loud — which admittedly is not something I do for every game that gets covered around here. Focus Home Interactive seems to have picked a winner.

Will you be giving Shady Part of Me a shot on Nintendo Switch?
