Sea of Stars, the upcoming turn-based RPG from the developers of The Messenger, has a new trailer. It comes to us via the ongoing Summer Game Fest, so it’s understandable you might have missed it. The trailer shows off some characters, combat, and exploration – and if we may say so, it’s all looking rather gorgeous. Sea of Stars is set to arrive in 2022, but it appears to be coming along nicely.
Developer Sabotage Studio has said that Sea of Stars takes place in the same universe as The Messenger, despite their differences. It serves as a prequel to the ninja action game, taking inspiration from various ’90s RPGs.
The team’s Kickstarter was wildly successful when it wrapped up in April. Sea of Stars hit every stretch goal, including a drop-in-drop-out two-player mode, a bonus dungeon, a new game+ mode, and more. The project also gained a guest composer, as Yasunori Mitsuda joined the team to help bring the game to life. Sabotage Studio has stressed that Sea of Stars will get the same level of polish as The Messenger, which could explain its 2022 release date.
The new trailer is available below. If you like what you see and want to support the developers pre-launch, you can still preorder the game via Backerkit.
