Samurai Shodown lands on the Nintendo Switch in late February

samurai shodown switch release date feb. 25 snk

It’s been a bit of a bumpy road for Nintendo Switch owners looking forward to getting their hands on the latest SNK-developed fighting game, Samurai Shodown. While the reboot of their classic weapon-based fighting game series initially landed on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 last year, the Nintendo Switch version of the game wouldn’t be ready for release until the end of the year. Then a sudden delay pushed the Nintendo version of the competitive fighter to the first quarter of 2020, while Google Stadia subscribers were treated to a surprise port of the game. Finally though, the sun is setting on the arduous wait for this version of the game. Samurai Shodown is confirmed to be arriving on Nintendo Switch overseas on Feb. 25, 2020.

Eager fans who pre-purchase the game on Nintendo Switch will also be treated to an exclusive bonus game. Preorders grant players access to a free digital copy of Samurai Shodown! 2, the old-school Neo Geo Pocket entry in the long-running sword-action series. Hardcore fans can get their hands on an exclusive and limited edition Gold Shockbox Edition of the game. It comes with physical copies of both games, an exclusive 134-page art book, and a Neo Geo AES-inspired Shockbox to hold all of the contents in.

Will you be playing Samurai Shodown on Nintendo Switch in North America or Europe on Feb. 25?
