Samurai Shodown cuts up Switch in Q1 2020, preorders get bonus game

Samurai Shodown Switch release date SNK preorder bonus Samurai Shodown! 2 Neo Geo Pocket Color

The big Samurai Shodown reboot from SNK launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this past June, and in classic Nintendo Switch fashion, Nintendo fans have been twiddling their thumbs waiting for their port ever since. Well, Switch owners won’t be waiting too much longer, as a new trailer has announced a Q1 2020 international release window for the game. (It releases Dec. 12 in Japan.) It also reveals a really great incentive to preorder: Those who preorder Samurai Shodown will receive Samurai Shodown! 2 from Neo Geo Pocket Color for free.

The rest of the announcement trailer is standard fare, just trying to get Nintendo players hyped to play the game. Graphical sacrifices are evident, but considering it’s probably for the sake of preserving the game’s frame rate, that’s fine. A fighting game with a lousy frame rate is a game not worth playing.

Probably because there isn’t much else to talk about regarding the game, the SNK trailer dedicates the whole last 20 seconds of an already short video to hyping Samurai Shodown! 2. This is apparently “the game’s first port since its release on the Neo Geo Pocket in 1999!!” (More exclamation marks means more hype.)

What do you think of this preorder bonus, and what do you make of Samurai Shodown‘s transition to Switch? Let us hear from you!
