What series would you like Sakurai to tackle after Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?

Masahiro Sakurai is gifting Sora Co. Ltd. staff office furniture to work at home Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Once the second and final wave of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighters wraps up, Project Director Masahiro Sakurai has a “total blank slate.” Hopefully, that means he takes it easy for a while (and frankly, he should be doing so right now while DLC output slows down), but knowing Sakurai, he’ll back before too long tackling a new challenge. Whether it’s a return to Super Smash Bros., a new Kid Icarus, something Kirby related, or something totally new to Sakurai, what would you like to see him work on after he finishes up work on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?

I’d love to see Sakurai jump into Star Fox. After his work on Kid Icarus: Uprising, which combined fantastic rail shooting and third-person shooting to make one of Nintendo’s best games of the 2010s, I am convinced that he could get the wayward space shooter back on track. Speaking of Kid Icarus: Uprising, though, I would love to see him return to that universe as well. He did so much to build it up, after all, and it would be a shame to never get another game out of that iteration of Pit and friends.

What would you like to see Sakurai work on after Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Something new? Something he’s tried before? Let us know in the comments!
