Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin 1 million units in worldwide shipments

Marvelous announced that its sidescrolling rice-farming hybrid, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, has reached 1 million copies in worldwide shipments. The Edelweiss-developed title launched in November 2o20 and hit the milestone in a little over six months.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin was at 950,000 units shipped worldwide early last month, which means since then, it has sold an additional 50,000 units in roughly a month. The previous milestone before that was 850,000 units shipped back in January 2021. Out of the 1 million units shipped, about 600,000 comes from copies shipped in Japan.

Developer Edelweiss shared a thank you message for everybody who purchased the game. A million units shipped is a number that they never would’ve dreamed of achieving, but the creators wanted to credit the publishers, Marvelous, for making it a reality through their advertisements, packaging, and distribution.

Marvelous also started a Twitter campaign to commemorate the milestone. Up to 100 winners will receive special 1 million-seller Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin T-shirts for participating. Follow Marvelous and RT the tweet below (campaign limited to Japan) to enter:
