Rumor: Persona 4 Arena Ultimax remaster in development

Atlus Arc System Works Persona 4 Arena Ultimax remaster modern consoles 2022 release date Zippo rumor leak leaker

Early last week, Atlus announced Persona 25th anniversary festivities and teased a whopping seven projects in development for the franchise. There are plenty of optimistic guesses about what is in the works — Persona 6 seems like a given, while Persona Nintendo Switch ports are just a strong wish — but nobody can say for sure. Except someone is claiming for sure what one of those projects is. Leaker Zippo, who most recently correctly predicted the existence of Metroid Dread and the return of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, says the Arc System Works fighting game Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will receive a remaster for “modern platforms” as one of the seven projects.

Zippo does not know if any additional content will come to this alleged Persona 4 Arena Ultimax remaster, though it would be unusual if it did not come with enhancements of some kind. The game released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2014 as the sequel to Persona 4 Arena, a 2012 game that introduced Persona to the fighting game genre. In addition to their earnestly solid gameplay, the games catered to the fan base by continuing the story of Persona 4, introducing new characters and even introducing the existing cast to Persona 3 characters. Basically, they were a pretty great nerd fest.

This alleged Persona 4 Arena Ultimax remaster is expected to release sometime in 2022. Presuming that’s accurate, it’s only the tip of the iceberg.
