Ruined King: A League of Legends Story brings turn-based LoL action to Switch in 2021

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story

Riot Forge has announced Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, a turn-based RPG from Airship Syndicate that is heading to consoles, Switch included, in 2021. Check out the stylish announcement trailer below. It does not show any gameplay, but it does debut some stylish cinematics and sounds that may set the tone for what we can expect.

Promising a dark, seedy setting and several notable characters, PR described the premise and cast of Ruined King: A League of Legends Story as follows:

The story is set in two regions of Runeterra, Bilgewater, a port town that is home to sea monster hunters, dock gangs, and smugglers from across the known world; and the Shadow Isles, a land cursed with the deadly Black Mist which shrouds the island and corrupts those it comes in contact with. In order to defeat a common and mysterious enemy, players will form an unlikely party of beloved League of Legends champions – Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Yasuo, Ahri, and Pyke.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is the debut title from Riot Forge. Riot Forge is a publisher established in 2019 with a sole focus on expanding the League of Legends universe by providing players with “completable” games that explore the worlds and characters of the incredibly popular MOBA.

For now, we will have to wait until December to see anything more from Ruined King: A League of Legends Story. It’s hard to get too excited based on a cinematic trailer, but a thorough exploration of the stories belying League of Legends is still an intriguing venture in my eyes. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more news on this title. Set to release early next year, the game will hopefully mark a strong start for Riot Forge’s new initiative to explore the intricate universe behind League of Legends.
