It’s been nearly five years since Nintendo first announced Metroid Prime 4 at E3. We heard nothing about the project for about a year and a half after, and then Nintendo announced that development had been completely restarted. Now, with Retro Studios in charge, it’s been just over three years since development began anew. Nintendo is still totally hush-hush on the project, so Retro Studios hiring ads have been our only progress updates. The Texas-based studio just put up two new listings, and they confirmed via Twitter that they’re both for Metroid Prime 4.
Retro Studios hiring for Metroid Prime 4
The two new positions posted today are for a Tools Engineer and a Technology Engineer. Unfortunately, there’s not really much we can glean from the listings about Metroid Prime 4‘s development. It’s all pretty standard stuff that doesn’t go into detail about gameplay mechanics. In addition to these two jobs, Retro Studios is also hiring for several other positions, though they may not all be for Metroid Prime 4. The full list of openings is as follows:
- Concept Artist
- Environment Designer
- Material Artist
- Character Artist
- User Interface Artist (Contract)
- User Interface Scripter (Contract)
- Technology Engineer
- Environment Artist
- Environment Terrain Artist
- Tools Engineer
Officially, Metroid Prime 4 is the only project that we know Retro Studios is working on. However, it has long been rumored that they are also developing a remaster or remake of the first Metroid Prime.
