Respawn wants Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch

After being leaked and released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for free last week, it’s safe to say Apex Legends has made a splash in the gaming community. The Titanfall-inspired battle royale hit has already garnered a 25 million player base, but that figure doesn’t include Nintendo Switch. Respawn isn’t ruling out the hybrid console, though.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Respawn’s Drew McCoy mentioned that the company wants Apex Legends on both Switch and mobile platforms. That said, there’s “nothing they can currently talk about.”

A Switch port seems like a perfect fit. I’ve always wanted Titanfall or its sequel on the system, but I’d take an Apex Legends release nonetheless. The system needs more shooters, and a free battle royale title could bode well for the system’s overall mature audience. With Switch a mainstream hit, Nintendo needs to seek out mainstream games.
