Resident Evil 5 and 6 get gyroscopic and motion controls on Switch

Resident Evil 5 Resident Evil 6 motion controls gyroscopic controls Switch

When Resident Evil 4 received its Switch port, people were bummed (but not necessarily surprised) that it did not feature the motion controls present in the Wii version. However, in a bizarre twist of fate, Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 will feature gyroscopic and motion controls when they launch for Nintendo Switch on Oct. 29.

Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 have suffered from a good share of criticism since demos for them arrived on the Switch eShop due to frame rate issues. The price tag of $29.99 each is not wildly appealing either considering each game’s age, though they are 33 percent off if you preorder them and already own Resident Evil 4 on Switch.

For what it’s worth, I played both Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 at New York Comic Con, and I had a bunch of fun with RE5 as usual, whereas RE6 continues to be… what it is. I guess I’m just blind to frame rate issues that aren’t game-breaking, because I wasn’t bothered by the performance I received playing docked.

If frame rate is really important to you, maybe stay away from these games until some patches have been applied. But if you just want to play more RE on the go, frankly, I’d recommend grabbing them now, especially now that gyroscopic and motion controls have randomly entered the equation.
