Reggie Fils-Aimé and Kaz Hirai announce ‘Super Retired Bros.’ consulting agency

Reggie Fils-Aime Kazuo Kaz Hirai Super Retired Bros. Consulting Agency

Two titans of the video game industry have come together in a way we never could have expected. Reggie Fils-Aimé, set to retire as president of Nintendo this month, and Kazuo “Kaz” Hirai, set to retire from a long tenure at Sony this June, have announced a new business partnership. This fall, Fils-Aimé and Hirai will be launching “Super Retired Bros.” consulting agency.

This confirms suspicions that the timing of Fils-Aimé and Hirai’s respective retirements has not been coincidental. In a press release, Fils-Aimé said, “Kaz and I have been friends for years, perhaps on a level others were unaware of. I slip him a copy of Super Mario Odyssey fresh out of the factory — he passes along a copy of God of War before Sony even announces that the title has gone golden. That’s the kind of deep relationship we have.”

Hirai continued, “You can’t stay a president or a CEO forever. Eventually, you get tired. Eventually, you want to work less than 65 hours a week. So Reggie and I have been thinking about our respective exit strategies for a while, and we’ve been thinking about our next moves, and suddenly, it’s just like — hey, why don’t we take this next step together?”

Super Retired Bros. won’t be hurting for clients. A duo of Reggie Fils-Aimé and Kaz Hirai adds up to decades of experience in running an electronics hardware operation at the highest level, making this probably the most valuable two-man consultancy in history. However, there is some lingering confusion over the types of consulting that Super Retired Bros. will be doing.

Fils-Aimé is quoted as saying, “What does Super Retired Bros. do? No, that’s not the best question. The best question is — what doesn’t Super Retired Bros. do? Yes, we will be working with game developers big and small to improve their marketing, connect them with our vast network of resources, and generally improve the quality of their products.

“But Kaz and I know a lot more than just video games, so Super Retired Bros. will be providing services beyond just the video game stuff. For instance, did you know Kaz is actually a talented ghostwriter? Of course you didn’t, but that’s the point. Kaz has, no joke, ghostwritten a book for a certain author associated with HBO. So yeah, Kaz will be doing writing consulting. And me? I could grow a forest in a desert. ‘Green thumb’ doesn’t begin to describe it. Green body, maybe. My green body is ready to help agricultural agencies, governmental or otherwise.”

So it seems the bottom line is this — whatever Super Retired Bros. sets out to do, they’re probably going to knock it out of the park. Are you excited for this crazy new partnership? Would you love to hire Reggie Fils-Aimé and Kaz Hirai to give your business a boost? Let us know down below!
