Don’t go jumping to any hasty conclusions with that headline. The reality of the situation is likely way more mundane than we would hope. Nonetheless, dataminer Tez2 has evidently located a Switch Pro Controller icon in the texture game files for Red Dead Redemption 2 from Rockstar Games. And unfortunately, no, it doesn’t likely mean that the game has a Nintendo Switch port in the works.
Rather, it probably means that the Steam PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive an update for native Switch Pro Controller support, as Steam is often cool like that when it comes to peripheral variety.

To date, L.A. Noire is the only Rockstar Games title to find its way to Nintendo Switch, and it would be odd for Red Dead Redemption 2 to appear on the console ahead of “it literally prints money” Grand Theft Auto V. Nonetheless, porting specialists like Panic Button and Saber Interactive have demonstrated that extraordinary things are possible on Switch, successfully making games likeĀ Doom, Alien: Isolation, and even The Witcher 3 feel like a pretty natural fit on the console.
In any case, this Switch Pro Controller icon offers a faint glimmer of what could be, if we lived in a slightly better world.
