R-Type Final 2 is funded on Kickstarter, has visceral new trailer

R-Type Final 2 is funded on Kickstarter, receives update trailer | Irem & Granzella

Not only have Irem Corporation and developer Granzella unveiled all of R-Type Final 2 for Kickstarter, but it’s funded too! Adjusted from Japanese yen, the game was seeking $416,267, and at the time of writing, it’s at over $492,000. There are five days left for the Kickstarter too, if you’re interested in supporting its stretch goals.

R-Type Final 2 is planned for release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam, and there does not seem to be a release window for the project yet. In the meantime, check out the new trailer for the game below. It has that classic R-Type flavor we’ve come to expect, except it’s a heck of a lot prettier than R-Type Final, which released for PlayStation 2 in 2003. (Man, time flies.)

I never finished the first game because it’s tough as nails, but Granzella is promising “a wider range of difficulty levels available to players with different skill levels” for R-Type Final 2. That’s great! They also plan to have at least 10 original stages, with more coming after the game’s release.

Basically, this Kickstarter is a big case of “so far, so good.” And I even find the passionate yet not-so-excellent English of the Kickstarter to be charming, in a silly way. Let us know if you’re feeling as good about this release as we are.
