Quantum Suicide, a dark, sci-fi visual novel, is coming to Switch this year

Quantum Suicide

One of my favorite visual novel franchises of all time is Kotaro Uchikoshi’s Zero Escape series. These games combine strong characters, branching endings, escape room puzzles, and dark, twisted stories to craft a gripping experience from start to finish. While it seems the series has finished up completely, there’s a new game coming this year which I hope will be just as good, Cotton Candy Cyanide’s Quantum Suicide.

Quantum Suicide places you and some crewmates aboard a spaceship in search of a new home for humanity. Along your voyage, the ship’s A.I. becomes corrupted and forces the crew to participate in weekly “deletion games,” during which your life (and the mission’s success) is at stake.

According to the game’s website, Quantum Suicide features over 30 hours of gameplay across six chapters and over 30 endings. For those who like a little romance in their visual novels, Quantum Suicide has you covered. There are at least six courtable characters in the game, each with their own personalities and sexual preferences.

While I’m doubtful anything could fully live up to the Zero Escape franchise, I’m intrigued by Quantum Suicide and I’ll definitely be picking it up. The game launches later this year, though if you’re at the Tokyo Game Show 2019, you can get an early look at the title. For now, though, check out the trailer above and let us know what you think in the comments!
