Will you grab a next-gen console this year to go with your Switch?

Nintendo jumped ship on the Wii U a few years early, putting them on a strange generational schedule relative to its two main console competitors over at Sony and Microsoft. As a result, while the Switch is probably approaching the midpoint of its lifespan, the PS4 and Xbox One are making way for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. We’ve learned about each console very, very slowly over the course of the year. While a strange game of chicken with prices and release dates has kept some of the most important info out of our hands, we at least have some idea of what each system has under the hood and what they’ll be launching with (and, uh, won’t be launching with. Sorry, Halo Infinite). Based on what we know, have you decided whether or not to pick up a PS5 or Series X this year to go alongside your Switch?

I know I’ll probably grab both systems eventually, but at this point, I don’t see that happening for at least a year or two. These things are going to be expensive and the launch libraries just aren’t impressing me yet. I’ve got a big enough backlog to keep myself occupied while waiting for the catalogs to fill up a bit and for deals to start popping up on the systems. I’ll probably grab a PS5 first, breaking my tradition from the past two generations. Microsoft just has not impressed me with their exclusives yet, and I know that I have to play the next entries in the Spider-Man and Horizon series as soon as I can.

Will you pick up a PS5 or Xbox Series X this holiday? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments below.
