Pre-ordering Pokémon Sword/Shield Double Pack nets in-game backpack

Pokemon Double Pack pre-order bonus case

Amazon is offering a pre-order incentive for Pokémon Sword and Pokemon Shield Double Pack that rewards players with a gold studded leather case in-game accessory. That’s right, one whole in-game dress-up item for the price of two whole videogames. Yeah, keep that in mind. This is only being offered for the Double Pack, meaning you’ll have to pay the price for both to get the item.

The female trainer gets a nice, trendy, lunchbox-sized case, while the male trainer gets chronic back pain after traveling across the land, searching far and wide. Seriously, that thing looks awkward to carry. The gold aesthetic also continues over in the UK version of the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Double Pack, which comes in a golden steel book.

The pre-order incentive expires Nov 14, the day before Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield releases. The download code for the item will be distributed on Nov 15. Ideally, you’ll get your code before or at the same time as the game. Purchasing the Double Pack also gives you a few in-game items that let you partake in extra battles, although no pre-order is required for these.

Since the item is being distributed via email code, it’s unclear if you get a backpack for each game or if you have to choose which one you love more. Either way, I can’t see too many people going the extra mile of pre-ordering just for this cosmetic. It’s certainly not the worst pre-order bonus I can imagine, but this probably won’t help to quell the raging inferno of fan controversy over the next generation of Pokémon games.
