‘Pokemon’ RPGs Bid Farewell To 3DS With ‘Ultra Sun’ & ‘Ultra Moon’

Speaking to IGN, Game Freak director Shigeru Ohmori essentially confirmed that Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon will be the final mainline series games on Nintendo’s dedicated portable device, the 3DS.

With Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, we’ve tried to eke that out more and really, really push the system to its absolute limits, and we’re now feeling that perhaps this is the maximum of what we can get out. So we’re really treating Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as the culmination of our work with the 3DS system.”

Since a confirmed Pokemon RPG is coming to Switch, get ready to see a massive upgrade for the franchise. We’re talking about a jump from an outdated portable-only system to a home console/handheld hybrid that can sometimes compare to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
