The Pokémon Company and popular JYP Entertainment K-pop group Itzy have announced a collaboration to promote Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Unite, and Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), and they have shared an interview with the group discussing what they like about the franchise. Pokémon Legends: Arceus of course launches tomorrow, January 28, and on Wednesday, February 9, a commercial for the game featuring Itzy, as well as a making-of video and TikTok video, will be released. From there, the group will continue to appear in commercials and events for these different Pokémon games.
K-pop crossovers with video games are becoming more common with time, especially in the Nintendo sphere, which has seen other current and former JYP artists like Jeon So-mi and Twice promote the brand. Meanwhile, in Korea and sometimes abroad, idols regularly make cameos in popular casual and mobile games — even shooters like PUBG, which sounds odd the first time you hear about it. Itzy collaborating with The Pokémon Company to talk about cute and cuddly creatures frankly makes more sense to us, and on that note, you can check out their not-so-hard-hitting interview below.
(The members’ names are translated oddly here for some reason. The Itzy members’ names are typically written as Yeji, Chaeryeong, Yuna, Lia, and Ryujin.)
