Pokemon CEO on how ‘Let’s Go’ changes the series’ formula

Pokemon: Let’s Go is the first home console Pokemon experience, and some gameplay changes have been implemented to complement the jump to HD. The Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara doesn’t want veteran fans of the series to worry, though.

Amongst those who have played the game, there may be some who feel like it has changed. However, we’ve actually been continuously changing the formula for the games since the beginning, and in the end the players have accepted those changes,” said Isihara. “Along those lines, this time we are also changing things around, but that’s part of the longstanding tradition of Game Freak and the Pokemon series. We won’t make mistakes with the basics, so please trust us.”

Pokemon: Let’s Go is certainly different than any previous title, but I’m all for it. What I played at E3 excited me as someone who’s played every mainline game numerous times. The core Pokemon experience is there, and I think fans will be happy with the new installment when it launches in November.
