It’s a great time to be a fan of the Sinnoh region! Lots of players are currently enjoying Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and for many of them, it’s a follow-up to the Gen 4 remakes. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl launched late last year to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the DS games. As usual, The Pokémon Company was able to cash in big on nostalgia. The latest Nintendo investor report just dropped, and it shows that Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl sales are just shy of 14 million.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl sales
The newest sales data covers the period from October 1 to December 31, 2021. During that time, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl sales reached 13.97 million. With the extra month since then, they’ve almost certainly eclipsed 14 million. That puts them just behind the Let’s Go games, which have a combined 14.33 million sales since they launched in 2018. Pokémon Sword and Shield are enjoying a much more comfortable lead at 23.90 million units sold. Here’s how they stack up to all past remakes:
- Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green — 12.00 million
- Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver — 12.72 million
- Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire —14.46 million
- Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee —14.33 million
Most popular Nintendo Switch games enjoy strong post-launch sales, so there’s a good chance Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl sales will cruise past 15 million this year. That would make them the highest-selling Pokémon remakes of all time.
