Pokémon BDSP physical sales hit 2 million in Japan alone

The weekly hardware and software numbers from Japan are in, and Nintendo is still on a hot streak. Like last week, every game in the Top 10 was a Nintendo Switch title. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl topped the charts once again, selling 130,772 copies at retail. This brings Pokémon BDSP physical sales to over 2 million just in Japan alone!

Outside of the dominant Pokémon BDSP sales, the Japanese charts were full of familiar faces. Nintendo evergreens like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Smash all made the top 10, as did multiplatform wonder Minecraft. Switch was also the top hardware by a large margin, selling 192,335 units. Pokémon BDSP sales are thriving outside of Japan as well. The twin games combined to sell over 6 million copies in just one week. It likely won’t be long before they reach the 10 million mark, like many Pokémon games before them.
