Anytime you’re ever wondering if a particular piece of Pokémon merchandise exists, the answer is always either “yes” or an aggressive “not yet.” This time around, per Brian Ashcraft translation at Kotaku, we have Pokémon Air, a big fat inflatable rubber Pikachu that you can do whatever you want with. Promotional images tease riding around on it outside, lounging around on it inside, and generally just using it as a piece of adorable interior decorating. Pokémon Air supports up to 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of weight too, so a good amount of adults can get in on the fun. It does carry a six-month warranty though, in case you accidentally punch a hole in it (or if you’re heavier than you thought).
This lovably large Pikachu will retail for 7,500 yen ($71.15), and preorders begin in Japan on Oct. 1. No plans for international release have yet been announced, and unfortunately, shipping to the United States from Japan in the time of COVID-19 continues to be complicated and costly. That means you may be left waiting a while if you want Pokémon Air in your life, unless you’re especially stubborn and/or have some connections.
You never know what might arrive next in the wonderful world of Pokémon merchandise, such as Pikachu engagement rings with really erect ears. It’s just too bad how much of it stays in Japan!
