Last week saw the long-awaited release of Pokémon Home, the app that will connect all Pokémon games going forward and serve as a replacement for Pokémon Bank. It has a bunch of features that will make Pokémon fans’ lives easier and more fun, including trading from the mobile app, a centralized Pokédex, and rewards. And speaking of rewards, players are reporting that they’re getting a Poké Ball-colored Magearna as a bonus for completing the National Dex in Pokémon Home.
Serebii Note: There are now multiple separate reports of receiving Original Color Magearna in Pokémon HOME for completion of the National Pokédex.
At present it's not appearing for everyone but we are currently investigating. We'll bring more as it comes https://t.co/gDbXkHSvkT pic.twitter.com/hjcSW1U80X

This is especially cool, as it’s the first time this coloration has been available. As with many new apps and games, however, there’s a problem. Some people are getting regular Magearna, and some are getting nothing at all. The folks on this Serebii.net Twitter thread are comparing notes, and it appears to be a glitch or a bug. Fans are working to get to the bottom of this.
It’s been interesting to watch Pokémon discourse as a long-time fan. The series has a long history of glitches, bugs, exploits, downright cheating, and odd design decisions. Only recently have fans become especially outspoken about their distaste though. Pokémon GO, while certainly better these days than at launch, still has the occasional hiccup. Even Nintendo Enthusiast has lambasted certain choices in Pokémon Home. This Magearna issue seems like a small drop in the bucket, but it’s yet another thing that has Pokémon fans wondering if things shouldn’t be a little better than they are.
Personally, I just hope that everyone who completed the National Dex gets the right Magearna when all is said and done.
Have you completed the National Dex in Pokémon Home? Did you get a special Magearna, a regular one, or none at all? Let us know!
