Playtonic Games is the developer of Yooka-Laylee, the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie. It also released a 2D sidescrolling sequel in 2019, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, which was a love letter to the Donkey Kong Country series. Fans may now be excited to learn that the company behind the chameleon and the bat are planning on announcing something “soon.”
We'd like to give our community, our friends, a giant hug ??
We know you're all wondering what we have cooking, and although we can't say just yet, something will be revealed SOON.
Thank you for being patient with us ?

Playtonic confirmed this on its Twitter account, thanking fans for being so supportive over the years. No one really knows what this reveal will entail. There’s a chance that we’ll see another entry in the Yooka-Laylee series, but Playtonic has previously expressed interest in creating a new IP. Last year, fans were speculating whether or not Playtonic was working with Microsoft to produce a new Banjo-Kazooie game. However, the developer politely shut down these rumors on Twitter.
The U.K. development team has a fantastic community backing it, with Twitter seeing all kinds of shenanigans. This is in part thanks to the awesome community management, which was previously led by Playtonic’s Daley (@Daley_Kong). However, she has since moved on to game development, and Tegan (@itsTeganM) took on the role last year. There’s a chance you may encounter posts about feet for some reason, but the Playtonic Twitter is a lot of fun to interact with.
