Pandemic will be removed from the Switch eShop, never to return

Pandemic board game will be removed from Nintendo Switch eShop by the end of July 2022, PC mobile iOS Android Google Play App Store gone already

Back on January 6, digital board game Pandemic was removed from Steam at the request of publisher Asmodee Digital. It turns out this was not a fluke, and it is also being permanently removed from other platforms. Via a Reddit thread, Asmodee support has stated that Pandemic has been removed from the Google Play and App Store platforms, and it will be removed from the Nintendo Switch eShop “by the end of July 2022.” However, those who have already purchased the game will be able to re-download it.

Asmodee support only vaguely discussed the reasons that Pandemic is being removed from the Switch eShop and other platforms: “We have worked hard over 4 years on Pandemic and withdrawing it from the stores has not been an easy choice. This decision was made with a heavy heart for a multitude of reasons that we cannot disclose.”

You may have noticed we are currently living through an actual pandemic, and it doesn’t take a genius to wonder if that has influenced the decision to take down this board game. In any case, if you’ve ever had a desire to play a digital board game version of the miserable thing we’re currently stuck with, now’s the time to nab it from the eShop. The original, physical board game is apparently really good and influential.
