Paladins is free now on Switch

Hi-Rez Showcase to provide updates on Paladins, Smite, Rogue Company Hi-Rez Studios esports tournament smite $600,000

The free-to-play game Paladins is now free for all to download without a $25 US founder’s pack purchase. The has quite a following in a similar way that Fortnite does. It’s not as mainstream or of the same magnitude, but there are big fanbases of these free-to-play games. Unlike the previously mentioned title, Paladins is a take on the “hero shooter,” popularized by Overwatch. Comparable in almost every way, Paladins offers up  unique characters, objective based gameplay, and required coordination between team members to secure victory. All of this is absolutely free of charge, so why not give it a chance?

Also launching today within the game is a new character. Koga is a ninja that has a different set of mechanics than every other character. With no cooldowns for his move selections, Koga instead utilizes energy to attack when the opportunity presents itself. It will be interesting to see how this change affects the play style of those that choose to incorporate Koga in their roster of regular play.

With the continued popularity of free-to-play games, it is no surprise that these titles are expanding their audiences to the Switch. This is a great way to get some gamers to play games they normally wouldn’t. Warframe is the next game in the vein of free-to-play to hit Switch, with an as of now unknown release date. It is great to see that there are free and competent options of AAA games for gamers to enjoy.

If you are getting tired of the Fortnite craze, low on funds, and open to a different style of gameplay, it wouldn’t hurt to at least check out Paladins for free today. I know I will be downloading it to check and see what it’s all about. Sound off in the comments below on if you are going to be joining the community in a new free-to-play experience!
