Publisher Dangen Entertainment and developer Future Cat LLC have announced that they will re-release 2016 PC game OneShot on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2022. It is a “surreal” top-down puzzle adventure about a child named Niko trying to return light to a world that has gone utterly dark, and a OneShot console teaser trailer provides a glimpse of the game’s tone. The part that makes the game surreal is that it is “aware” of the player (reminds me a bit of tERRORbane, except this game came first), introducing metafictional elements to the story.
Here are some features to expect from OneShot on Switch and other consoles in 2022:
- Gameplay mechanics that go beyond the game window.
- A unique relationship between the game and its player.

- A lingering feeling that you’re not getting the full story unless you know where to look.

The game will be localized in English, Japanese, Spanish (Castillan), French, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Russian. And if you’re on the fence about this game, it’s worth noting that the Steam release has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” reception with over 21,000 reviews — so it clearly did something right the first time around.
