Omno, an atmospheric 3D adventure, chills out on Switch this year

Omno Nintendo Switch release date Jonas Manke Future Friends Games Studio Inkyfox

Publisher Future Friends Games and developer Studio Inkyfox will launch atmospheric 3D adventure Omno on PlayStation 4, Xbox One (plus Game Pass), and PC in summer 2021, with a Nintendo Switch version launching “shortly after.” Inkyfox actually comprises a lone developer, Jonas Manke, who has created this serene single-player experience with Unreal Engine. A new trailer showcases how the game is shaping up.

On Switch, Omno will take you on an exploration of an ancient world, “through lush forests, across a sun-blasted desert, over a frigid tundra, and where the power of a lost civilisation will even carry you to the clouds.” You will encounter other “strange creatures” and potentially make some friends along the way (including a dinosaur, apparently), while uncovering the usual surprises that come with a 3D adventure game. Your magic staff allows you to achieve various tasks, such as powering up relics, dashing across platforms, gliding over land, or sailing above the clouds. The game reminds me a bit of Elli.

If you are looking for more 3D adventure experiences on Nintendo Switch beyond Omno, Square Enix’s Balan Wonderworld launched today, albeit with a day 1 patch to address seizure risks. Demon Turf is also coming from Fabraz and Playtonic Friends to Switch this summer.
