Oddventure, inspired by EarthBound & Undertale, is Switch-bound in 2022

Nintendo doesn’t seem to care about Mother fans in the West. Just the other day, former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé joked about an English version of Mother 3 on Twitter. This caused a massive outcry from fans, who found it both amusing and upsetting. However, if you’re a fan of this particular game series, you are in luck. Polish indie publisher Pineapple Works and developer Infamous Rabbit have announced Oddventure, an RPG that takes heavy inspiration from EarthBound and Undertale, will launch in Q3 2022 on Nintendo Switch. It is described as a “lore-rich turn-based crazy JRPG set in a cursed fairytale world.”

A Kickstarter is planned to go live next month on May 6 to support the game’s development costs. Oddventure is scheduled to release on PC via Steam in addition to Switch, with a playable demo currently available on Steam if you’re interested in giving it a go. Screenshots of Oddventure demonstrate its similarities to the likes of EarthBound and Undertale, as the combat and exploration looks familiar. Just like with Undertale, you don’t actually have to kill anyone, but the game explains describes itself as “The friendly RPG where nobody has to die… but can. In a horrible way.”

If you’re interested in Oddventure on Switch, keep an eye on the game’s Kickstarter in the weeks to come. However, if you want to give it a go right now, check out the free demo available on PC. Are you interested in Oddventure?
