Octopath Traveler has been a massive success in Japan, and newly released sales numbers in Japan corroborate reports we have seen from Twitter describing the game’s sales. Not only did the game take the top spot on the eShop in the country, but it sold 110,000 units in the first week alone. The game was the best debut of any third-party title on the Switch and sold through more than 90 percent of its shipment.
Several retailers in the country have confirmed that restocks are coming soon, but those hoping to play the game right now would probably be better off downloading the game digitally. Hopefully, the title’s success will convince Square to bring more titles to the system in higher quantities.
