Nintendo Trademarks Joy-Con Icons

One of the stand-out features of the Switch definitely have to be the Joy-Con controllers. The uniquely crescent-moon shaped controllers have definitely become quite recognizable, especially since their design makes up a major part of the Switch logo. Nintendo has made some legal moves to make sure this design remains in their jurisdiction.

Nintendo of Japan recently filed for image trademarks for the Joy-Con symbols/icons. This trademark covers several areas, such as game machine controllers and cardboard for paper craft, just to name a few. The images in question aren’t the same ones from the Switch logo, but rather they’re full outlines of the Joy-Cons including all of the face buttons (shown above).

In the picture above, I edited the color scheme a bit to make it look more like the Switch logo, but the designs are the same as the trademark images. Which look do you prefer?
