Since the launch of Nintendo Switch, a familiar pattern has emerged around the holidays: It sells gangbusters. CNN Business is reporting that “Switch was among most popular items sold on Black Friday, according to analysts who said that the gaming console benefited from aging competition.”
Sales were also helped by the Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle, which effectively retails with the game included for free. However, as we reported, that Switch bundle includes the old Nintendo Switch model, which offers vastly inferior battery life compared to the current model. Most people who bought this bundle probably didn’t know that, but then again, many people probably didn’t care or would not have cared had they known either. Some people just really love to save $59.99 and/or do not plan to play Switch outside the house very often.
Last year, Adobe Analytics reported on how Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! were big winners of Cyber Monday. It remains to be seen how Cyber Monday sales fare this year, considering how, uh, the day isn’t over yet. But likely some big business with a lot of data analysts will have something to say on the subject soon enough.
Stay tuned for more winners of Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the general Christmas rush.
