We all expected a limited edition console for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and we got a peek at one with the Nintendo Switch Lite Dialga & Palkia Edition during today’s Pokemon Presents broadcast.
The special Nintendo Switch Lite, which celebrates the release of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, features art of the Legendary Pokemon Dialga and Palkia. The console’s color is a standard black, and there isn’t anything different on the front, but you can find the Dialga and Palkia artwork on the back with the Switch logo right in between in the middle.
If you thought the design for the limited edition Switch Lite looked familiar, it is actually a throwback based on the Nintendo DS Lite Onyx Dialga & Palkia Edition.
Nintendo released the special DS Lite back in 2006 to align with the original games’ launch. While the Dialga & Palkia DS Lite was only available in Japan and North America, it appears that the special Switch Lite console will be available in all regions, including Europe. It’s worth noting that the Dialga & Palkia Switch Lite won’t include any of the games, so it’ll likely come with a standard price tag.
The limited edition Switch Lite will release on November 5, 2021. That’s the same date as the launch of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for the Nintendo Switch.
