Welcome back to another edition of Nintendo Showdown! This is a weekly series at Nintendo Enthusiast, and it requires some audience participation. Every week we’ll compare two (or more) Nintendo games and pit them against each other in a poll. Your votes decide the winner, so choose wisely. We’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about a new Paper Mario game recently, and it has us excited! Because of that, we’re matching it up against its forerunner: Super Mario RPG.

Super Mario RPG was an experimental blend of Nintendo’s charm and iconic characters and Square’s RPG expertise. It was a whole new experience for Mario fans and a fantastic introduction to the RPG genre. Paper Mario followed four years later, swapping out the isometric gameplay for a paper-inspired 3D style. Players fell in love with the papercraft world and its zany cast of characters, and it soon became a prominent Nintendo franchise. Which one of these beloved role-playing Mario games is best? Cast your vote in the poll below!
