Nintendo’s eShop has been a great way to purchase content from indie companies that you cannot get in a retail location, but is also a great way for Nintendo fans to pick up the latest retail releases from the comfort of their own home. Nintendo has now announced they are adding even more convenience for both the Wii U and 3DS by adding \”pre-download\”, starting with Super Smash Bros. Wii U.
Basically what the \”pre-download\” will offer is the ability to purchase and download the game before release date, and then having access to it when it goes live on the eShop. For example, if a game releases on Friday at Midnight, you can buy the game and download it in advance, and be able to play the game right at midnight, instead of having to wait to download.
This is a great convenience factor that should help impact digital downloads in a positive manner. The feature will be releasing first for the Wii U, then the 3DS in 2015.
