Event organizers have confirmed Nintendo will be attending Gamescom 2020 in Cologne, Germany. The announcement was made earlier today via the official Gamescom Twitter account. While there’s currently no word on what Nintendo will be bringing to the event, they’re sure to be showcasing upcoming games that have yet to be announced.

This is the event where Nintendo is likely to showcase some of its biggest releases for the latter half of the year. While we have no release date for the game just yet, this could include Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. We may even catch a glimpse of the highly anticipated Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel.
So far only the first round of exhibitors has been revealed. Nintendo attending Gamescom 2020 isn’t too much of a surprise, but the fact that there’s no mention of Sony is. It seems like Nintendo won’t need to hold its own against both of the companies launching new consoles this year — just Microsoft. The event runs between Aug. 25 and 29, 2020, so there’s still plenty of time for Sony to confirm its attendance, if it later decides to do so.
Among the other companies exhibiting at the event are Bethesda, Bandai Namco, and Ubisoft. There could be some very big games at the event, but Nintendo will surely have a commanding presence as always at Gamescom 2020.
