Nintendo announces eShop maintenance to prepare for Switch Online

EU eShop sale

Nintendo performs network maintenance quite often. But, a new round of maintenance has just been announced specifically to prepare for the arrival of Switch Online. Some maintenance was already carried out earlier this week, so clearly there’s quite a lot of behind-the-scenes changes happening.

According to Nintendo, this pre-Switch Online eShop maintenance will take place on September 18, 2018. That’s the same day that Switch Online will launch. The schedule is 5 PM to 8 PM (Pacific) / 8 PM to 11 PM (Eastern). So, that’s a three-hour window. During this time, the eShop will be completely inaccessible. But, once the doors open again you will be able to purchase your Switch Online membership both on the eShop and/or via Nintendo’s website.

In addition to this maintenance, Nintendo will also be rolling out a new firmware update for the Switch on that very same day (version 6.0.0.) It will be mandatory to upgrade your system to this latest version in order to access the eShop.

Looks like next week should be very active for every Switch owner!
