New RWBY game from WayForward gets details next week at RTX

new rwby game wayforward

Last September, Rooster Teeth Productions teased a new RWBY game from WayForward and ArcSystemWorks. We’ve heard virtually nothing since then, but that changes in one week! WayForward just announced via Facebook that we can expect details during RTX at Home, the company’s upcoming online convention. Those details will be split across two panels, both of which will be streamed online.

RWBY game at RTX

RTX at Home kicks off on July 8 for FIRST (a paid subscription service) members, and the main show starts the next day. We’ll hear details about the new RWBY game during the first panel on July 9 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific/1:00 p.m. Eastern. Then on Monday, July 12, there will be another RWBY panel kicking off at 11:00 a.m. Pacific/2:00 p.m. Eastern. Each panel lasts for one hour, but that time will be split with other announcements. The series will kick off Volume 9 later this year, so much of the first presentation will likely be focused on that.

About the game

WayForward, ArcSystemWorks, and Rooster Teeth have all been pretty tight-lipped, but we do have a few details.  The new RWBY game will feature an original story set during “a perfect window” in Volume 7. This is likely during the training montage episode, as an unknown number of weeks passes. WayForward has previously confirmed you’ll be able to play as all four members of Team RWBY: Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long. These characters will “use their trademark weapons and abilities to deliver the stylish action” in the game, but a genre is not specified.

WayForward and ArcSystemWorks have previously teamed up on the River City Girls series. A new RWBY game with a classic beat’em up style makes a lot of sense. The series is heavily focused on combat, including special abilities (called Semblances) and team attacks. I can easily envision the four Huntresses fighting their way through hordes of Grimm on the streets of Mantle. You can catch all the new reveals live at, and we’ll cover the news as it breaks here at Nintendo Enthusiast! Assuming it comes to Switch, of course.
