New Minecraft Switch Update Adds Video Capture (Patch 12)

The Nintendo Switch Edition (and Wii U Edition) of Minecraft recently got an update. For the Switch version, it’s patch 12. It added a host of new features, but one thing that was apparently left out of the patch notes is that the option to make use of the Switch’s video capture feature is now available. This was discovered by Redditor ‘drewsposts’.

Video Capture was added to the Switch a few months ago, although it’s not a system-wide feature. For some reason, each game has to manually be allowed to make use of the feature, which of course is something that relies solely on each developer. It looks like 4J Studios and Mojang finally got around to enabling it on Switch, which is great.

If you’re unaware of how to use Video Capture, just hold the ‘Share’ button for a few seconds on your Joy-Con or Pro Controller and the last 30 seconds of gameplay will automatically be saved to the Album. You can then share the video clip to Facebook and Twitter from there, just like a screenshot.

I hope Nintendo makes this a system-wide feature someday, along with increasing the length of the video clips. 30 seconds is so short!
