A skirmish has brewed in the past day or so across the internet concerning the legitimacy of screenshots revealing Palutena as a playable character in the new installments of Super Smash Bros. Sakurai toys with us in today’s official Smash Bros. update, which features a brand new stage for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS featuring, you guessed it, Kid Icarus: Uprising.
\”Pic of the day. This is definitely not a friendly girls night out…\”
While Rosalina and Zelda fight on a treacherous pathway in the midst of a terrifying storm, the goddess of Nature, Viridi, attacks from the background. In Kid Icarus Uprising: Viridi and her forces are frequently entangled with Pit and Palutena. Her Reset Bomb usage may round out her stage hazard functionality.
As this is a Super Smash Bros. for 3DS stage, we will unfortunately miss out on what it could have looked like on the big screen in high definition. It’s a shame that this and other stages won\’t have a chance to appear on the Wii U.
Meanwhile, we get another shot of two recently revealed fighters for the games, Zelda and Rosalina. Luma seems MIA at the moment, though its likely he’s just off screen at Rosalina’s command.
Sakurai hopefully has a few secrets waiting to jump out from his sleeve in the coming weeks. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze launches in mid February, which could usher in a new Donkey Kong character or the return of Diddy Kong, while the 20th anniversary of the release of Super Metroid rests in March. Knowing Sakurai, however, it\’ll likely be nothing that we\’d expect.
