New GRID Autosport Switch trailer shows analog controls and more

One of the minor letdowns with the official Switch controllers is that none of them have analog triggers. This has been a staple feature in the world of PlayStation and Xbox controllers for years now, yet Nintendo hasn’t built them into any of its controllers since the Gamecube. This can make some games harder to play, like racers. That said, the folks at Feral Interactive (the studio behind the Switch port of GRID Autosport) have found a workaround: using the triggers.

The new “Freedom of Control” trailer shows off new gameplay footage which demonstrates the various control methods players will have. In addition to options like using the classic button layout or motion controls, players can even use the right analog stick to control the throttle and brake rather than using the triggers. There’s even the option for custom controls, which further add to the variety.

It’s awesome that the dev team has gone this far to give players more freedom (as the title of the trailer states). After all, GRID is a proper racing sim so this will be especially appreciated by veteran race fans.

GRID Autosport will speed its way onto the Switch sometime in Summer 2019.
