New Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster trailer taps into your nostalgia

All the commotion surrounding Final Fantasy ports on the Nintendo Switch aren’t going to die anytime soon, and for good reason. Final Fantasy VII is one of the most influential RPGs of all time, while entries Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy XII are among fan favorites. Final Fantasy X and X-2, however, remain a bit controversial.

Maybe it’s because Spoony, an early internet video essay critic, tore the game (and its sequel) to shreds in a very lengthy video that many have cited for years as a case against the series’ entry. Maybe it’s because the sports game Blitzball is so polarizing to Final Fantasy fans who want nothing to do with sports, despite how fantasy-esque they may be. Or maybe it’s because western gamers are mostly split when it comes to JRPGs, and Famitsu is slight proof on how massive the divide between Japan and America is.

Whatever the reason, Final Fantasy X/Final Fantasy X-2 is releasing on the Switch on April 16, remastered, full of terribly dated voice acting, and several hours of gameplay. Square Enix has dropped a new trailer to remind you the game’s coming out, and to once again invite players to the world of Spira to join in on Tidus and Yuna’s journey to defeating Sin, and then maybe get some cool dress spheres afterward.
