Just yesterday, prominent leaker @New_WabiSabi claimed that a brand new Crash Bandicoot game is in the works, presumably under the watchful, loving eyes of the Crash remaster masters, Vicarious Visions. Today, Sabi followed up, claiming that their source agreed with new details provided by another leaker, @ViewerAnon.
The fresh batch of details does not paint the alleged new Crash Bandicoot game as a series revolution. According to ViewerAnon, Crash will not be launching into an open-world collectathon sort of title–instead, the gameplay will mirror the Naughty Dog trilogy’s linear progression. Players will spin and bonk their way through themed worlds with multiple levels apiece. That is pretty standard for a platformer, but @ViewerAnon specifically compared it to Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, so take that as you will. Additionally, you can play as Crash or Coco, but ViewerAnon is unaware of any differences in playstyles, if this hints at co-op, or anything else of the sort.
Would you try a new Crash Bandicoot game? Up until Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy came out in 2017, the franchise had practically been on a hiatus from quality ever since the PS1 days. However, recent remakes by Vicarious Visions has demonstrated serious appreciation and understanding for classic PS1 properties. I’m totally on board with their take on an all-new Crash Bandicoot game.
