Blizzard is making a new survival game for consoles & PC

new Blizzard survival game recruiting hiring hire jobs

Blizzard has announced that it is developing a survival game in a new universe for consoles and PC, and it is now recruiting more staff for the project. Details beyond that are pretty scant, as the announcement is very much intended just to suck up resumes from game developers. Blizzard describes the world of this new survival game as being “full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived,” and the project is at the “early stage” of its development. In addition to the above concept art, there is also a second piece of concept art with seemingly normal teenagers with a bicycle. And per Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, apparently “even some of the most disgruntled Blizzard employees rave about this game/team,” which is encouraging.

Obviously, Activision Blizzard has been in rough shape ever since it came to light several times how nightmarishly awful a work environment it is, regardless of whether you work at Activision or Blizzard. But when Microsoft made the shocking move to acquire Activision Blizzard, it generated hope that Microsoft would be able to change the company culture and free developers to work on things other than Call of Duty, a hope that is reportedly shared by some of the AB developers themselves. Sister site The Escapist and its resident lawyer have explained why the merger won’t be all sunshine and rainbows, but it will likely still yield a net positive for everyone involved.

In any case, if you have the skills and are willing to roll the dice with Microsoft, maybe you should take a look at the jobs this new Blizzard survival game is offering.
