Mother game screen decorations are coming soon from Hobonichi

Mother / EarthBound series creator Shigesato Itoi’s company, Hobonichi, is working on special replica game screen decorations that you’ll get to frame and put on your walls at home. These aren’t just any game screen printouts either, but prerendered game screens used to make backgrounds in the original 1989 Famicom RPG.

The folks at Hobonichi consider the graphics from the Mother series to be extra special. The unique designs from the Famicom, Super Famicom, and Game Boy Advance games all have that certain je ne sais quoi that carries the essence of the series, and they want to share it further with fans.

The concept behind the Replica Screen project comes from the desire of wanting to share a piece of Mother for fans to decorate on their walls, and what better way than to have the actual backgrounds made directly into framed pieces for your wall?

The prints come in two sizes of large and small. Here are the three screens from the first wave of the collection:

Mother fans can get their hands on their own piece of replica game screens when preorders go live on October 5, 2021. The large size will go for 37,400 yen ($340.97) and the small for 16,500 yen ($150.43).

Back in July, Hobonichi hosted a real-life version of the Burglin Park market from EarhBound. Instead of ketchup packets, stop signs, and other sketchy items, they sold various goods from the series.
