Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expansion adds new story & RoboCop

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath

The saga of Mortal Kombat 11 is far from over, as the gory 2019 fighter from NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is set to get a massive new update in the form of the Aftermath expansion. A debut trailer for the new DLC update, which will also be available as part of a new physical release titled Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath Kollection, shows off everything we can expect from the DLC, including an appearance from iconic tin-can crime-buster RoboCop.

The meat of the reveal trailer concerns itself with the new story content included in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, which focuses on fan-favorite manipulative sorcerer Shang Tsung coming to the aid of Raiden and newly anointed god Liu Kang after they accidentally destroy the one tool they need to properly reset their timeline. Shang Tsung offers to go back in time in order to steal the device before it’s destroyed, enlisting the help of a few surprising returning faces as well. Returning fighter Sheva and long-requested character Fujin join the roster as fully playable characters, alongside a surprising third character – RoboCop.

Not much is known about how RoboCop will play in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath just yet, but he’ll most likely be able to take advantage of a new system coming to the DLC – Friendships. These cuddly, heart-warming Fatality alternatives were present in the original games, and now NetherRealms is bringing them back alongside stage-specific Fatalities. Friendships, Stage Fatalities, and a suite of new stages will be added to the game for free alongside the release of Aftermath.

Mortal Kombat: Aftermath is set to arrive digitally on May 26th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
