Moon Studios, creator of Ori, is planning ‘revolutionary’ action RPG

Moon Studios developing revolutionary action RPG, Ori and the Blind Forest different

First noticed on ResetEra, Moon Studios has posted a job listing at Gamasutra seeking a senior designer to help the studio “revolutionize the ARPG genre.” Moon Studios of course created Ori and the Blind Forest for Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch and is currently developing sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps for Xbox One and PC. An action RPG would be a new experience for them.

Details about what is in mind for this unannounced title are scarce, but we can derive at least some clues from this part of the Moon Studios job listing: “You’ve played and studied RPGs your whole life and you still can’t get enough of them. You have a love for all things Diablo, Zelda, Dark Souls and other games in the genre. You’d love the opportunity to work on an RPG that dares to innovate and go far beyond what the genre has offered players thus far.”

Notably, Moon Studios is a distributed studio, i.e., all remote workers. So no matter where you live in the world, if you have the chops for the job, you should consider applying!

Ori and the Blind Forest released for Nintendo Switch just this past September, and thanks to the developers honing their talents and their technology since the game’s original release, this title reportedly runs better on Switch than on Xbox. The unannounced action RPG is seemingly not planned for Switch at the current time — only “PC / Windows, Playstation 4, Xbox One” are referenced — but we can hope that changes later on.
