Today, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC simultaneously on July 9, alongside a new trailer for the game. The game will come with a Deluxe Edition and a preorder bonus, but since we’re talking about a high-profile Switch game, the goodness doesn’t end there. Capcom also revealed three Monster Hunter Stories 2 amiibo for use with Nintendo Switch copies of the game: Ena, Razewing Ratha, and Tsukino. Each one will unlock a “different special layered armor” for use in the game, and the Monster Hunter Stories 2 amiibo will launch on the same release date as the game, July 9.
Capcom PR does not get much more specific about what the special layered armors will entail, only offering that “daily bonuses” will also be involved. Pricing and preorder details for the amiibo will come at a “later date.”
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will mark the second game in the series to arrive on Switch within 2021, following the launch of Monster Hunter Rise this month. The latter is expected to sell gangbusters following the incredible response to its first demo on Switch, so it will be interesting to see how Wings of Ruin fares by comparison.
Stay tuned for further details on the Monster Hunter Stories 2 amiibo — such as what they actually look like.
